No Use Marching in Gulshan, Apa Will Not Return: Nasiruddin Patwari

Mr. Nasiruddin Patwary, Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has remarked that even if supporters of the banned Awami League hold processions and rallies in Gulshan, fugitive autocrat Ms. Sheikh Hasina will not return to the country and they have no political future. He made these remarks today, Sunday, in a statement warning the Awami League.

Mr. Patwary said that the Awami League and their leader have only one opportunity to return to Bangladesh, and that is to face trial in court. Whatever verdict the court delivers will determine the course of action; before the trial, they have no opportunity for politics or return.

Sending a message to the workers of the banned Awami League, he said that creating disorder, filing cases or holding processions and disturbances in the country will not benefit them. Those who attempted a flash procession in Gulshan have been dealt with, and no subversive activity on the streets will be tolerated.

In his statement, he expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the trial process for the July massacre and the rise in extortion, occupation and criminal activities at the local level. Referring to his own experience, he said that ordinary people are facing recognized extortion wherever they go.

Considering these social sufferings of the people, he mentioned that the National Citizen Party has added a new demand to its phase of movement against extortionists, criminals and the corrupt.
