World Must Speak Up for the Safety of Holy Mecca

- Islamic party leaders urge
Leaders from various Islamic parties expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over an attempted drone attack by Houthi forces toward the holy city of Mecca. They said Mecca is the heartbeat of the entire Muslim Ummah. The whole Muslim world stands ready to make any sacrifice to protect its honor and safety.
The leaders warned that any terrorist group pointing toward holy Mecca or Madinah would face severe consequences. No matter what political, military, or territorial disputes exist, they said holy lands like Mecca al Mukarramah and Madinah al Munawwarah must never become targets of conflict, attack, or military action. They stressed that the Haramain Sharifain does not belong to any political side. Instead, it stands as the center of faith, love, and emotion for the whole Muslim Ummah.
The leaders said protecting the sanctity, dignity, and safety of the Haramain Sharifain is the duty of every Muslim. They strongly protested and condemned any attack, attempt, threat, or plan against holy Mecca, no matter who carries it out. They called on all parties involved to keep the Haramain Sharifain above every military conflict and political dispute, and to protect the safety and honor of these holy sites.
These remarks came at a meeting held on Thursday night at the historic Jamia Arabia Imdadul Uloom Faridabad Madrasa in Dhaka. The Adarsha Samaj Binirman Committee organized the event to condemn and protest the recent Houthi drone attack on the holy city of Mecca. The Houthis are an Iran backed Shia group.
Maulana Imdadul Islam, principal of Gendaria Jamalul Quran Madrasa, chaired the meeting. Other attendees included the vice principal of Faridabad Madrasa, Maulana Mutiur Rahman, along with Mufti Abdus Salam, Mufti Imaduddin, Maulana Manzur Hasan Zubair, Maulana Zubair Ahmed, Maulana Mulla Abdul Mumin, Mufti Iqbal Hasan, Hafez Abdur Rashid, and many other scholars and notable figures from the area.
At the meeting, participants decided to hold a protest march soon. The Jamia Arabia Imdadul Uloom Faridabad Madrasa and the Adarsha Samaj Binirman Committee will jointly organize this march. The goal is to protest the incident and show the united stand of the Muslim Ummah against any threat to the sanctity and safety of the Haramain Sharifain.
Separately, Mr. Haji Jalal Uddin Bakul, joint secretary general of the Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon and president of the Batil Protirodh Parishad Bangladesh, issued a statement on Friday. He said holy Mecca and Madinah are the center of faith, love, and spirit for the Muslim Ummah. Billions of Muslims around the world feel a deep bond with these two holy cities.
He said the world must never allow these holy cities and the areas around them to face the risk of military attack or conflict. The Houthi group has denied targeting the holy city of Mecca. However, Mr. Bakul said recent drone and missile attacks at various locations in Saudi Arabia reflect serious regional tension.
He added that no party should turn the holy sites of the Muslim world into part of any political, military, or geopolitical conflict. He said all parties involved carry the responsibility to protect innocent lives and religious sites. He especially called for ensuring the safety of Mecca and Madinah, along with a peaceful environment for worshippers and Umrah pilgrims arriving from different countries around the world.
