Special emphasis needed on career oriented education: President

President Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for giving special importance to technology, engineering and technical education that suits job markets at home and abroad. He made the call yesterday, Tuesday afternoon, at Bangabhaban, when a delegation from Pabna University of Science and Technology, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abul Hasnat Mohammad Shamim, paid a courtesy call on him.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor briefed the President on the university’s overall academic activities. Responding to this, the President said education standards must be raised to keep pace with a fast changing world, and the country’s students must move forward with it. He added that Bangladesh must gradually move away from an education system that creates unemployment and does not prepare students for work.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor formally invited the President to attend the university’s upcoming convocation as Chancellor. The President accepted the invitation and assured the delegation he would attend.

The President’s Military Secretary, Secretary and Press Secretary, along with the university’s Pro Vice Chancellor and Treasurer, were present at the meeting.
