PM calls for international cooperation to address sea-level rise risks

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for coordinated international efforts to address the multifaceted and existential threats posed by sea-level rise to climate-vulnerable countries, including coastal and island nations.
He made the call while speaking at a high-level meeting titled “High-Level Meeting to Address the Existential Threats Posed by Sea-Level Rise” at Conference Room 4 of the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Thursday.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister stressed the need for equitable financing and enhanced adaptation capacity to address the impacts of climate change. He also highlighted the need to ensure effective international cooperation for countries affected by sea-level rise.
The high-level meeting was held as part of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, with heads of government and state and representatives of relevant international organisations from various countries taking part.
