Supply drops to 500-600 MW following the tripping of Godda plant's first 800 MW unit, worsening national grid strain.
Adani Cuts Power Supply to Bangladesh Again

Electricity supply to Bangladesh from Adani Power’s Godda plant has dropped to around 500–600 MW following a severe coal shortage that caused Unit-1 (800 MW capacity) to trip. Supply stood at 504 MW on Thursday. According to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Adani Power indicated that restarting the unit would require at least four days. BPDB Member (Generation) Md. Zahurul Islam confirmed that supply had fallen sharply to 509 MW by Wednesday afternoon and has since remained fluctuated between 500 MW and 600 MW.
Data from Power Grid Bangladesh (PGB) shows peak supply was 834.14 MW on September 29 and 822.58 MW on September 28, despite an available capacity of 1,496 MW on the latter date, primarily due to fuel constraints.
Prior to the shortage, the plant delivered over 1,300 MW during peak hours, recorded at 1,323.06 MW on September 27 and 1,308.87 MW on September 26. The reduction has intensified pressure on Bangladesh’s national grid, compounded by lower generation across several domestic gas- and coal-fired plants.
As a result of reduced supply from Adani and other key private power producers, nationwide load-shedding surged past 2,000 MW on September 29 and 30.
