Babunagari Raises Shapla Atrocities with Tarique

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman made his first official visit to Chattogram, meeting political leaders and scholars while distributing relief to disaster-affected families. He began in Banshkhali, where he inaugurated a relief programme at Baharchhara seashore, providing homes and supplies to homeless and flood-affected families. He then travelled to Fatikchhari to visit Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa, where he held a courtesy meeting with Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari.
During the meeting, Hefazat leaders demanded justice for the 2013 Shapla Chattar killings, the 2021 anti-Modi movement clashes and alleged killings during the July-August 2024 uprising. They also urged parliament not to pass laws conflicting with the Quran and Sunnah. Tarique later travelled to Hathazari, paid ziyarat at the graves of Allama Hafez Junayed Babunagari and Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, and addressed a public gathering. Locals presented proposals for a modern hospital and improvements to the Hathazari-Nazirhat highway.
