Bangladesh Condemns Drone Attack in Medina

Bangladesh has strongly condemned a reported Houthi drone attack on the Taibah power plant in Saudi Arabia’s holy city of Medina. The Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the incident on Sunday. The statement said, “Intentionally targeting critical civilian infrastructure serving the Prophet’s Mosque is in no way acceptable. Such attacks on the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites cannot be tolerated.”

Bangladesh expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in protecting its security and sovereignty. Dhaka also opposed any aggressive action that could undermine regional peace and stability. The Foreign Ministry said Bangladesh’s support for Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty would continue.

The Saudi-led coalition has claimed that Yemen’s Houthi rebel group carried out the attack on a power supply facility in Medina. The facility supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites. The coalition, which is fighting the Houthis, said the attack disabled a transformer but did not significantly affect the overall power supply system. The Houthis, however, have denied carrying out such an attack.
