BGB Turns Back Three Indian Youths Forced Across Border by BSF

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has pushed back three Indian youths who were forced into Bangladeshi territory by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the West Ramkrishnapur border in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. The incident occurred around 5:30 AM on Tuesday.
According to local residents and the BGB’s Kariya post (14th Patnitala Battalion), BSF personnel pushed the three individuals through main pillar 276. After entering Bangladesh, the men walked nearly two kilometers inland to the Kariya market, where suspicious locals detained them and alerted the BGB. BGB personnel arrived around 7:30 AM and escorted them back across the border.
A flag meeting was held around 11:00 AM between the BSF Durgapur post (123rd Battalion) and the BGB Kariya post to resolve the issue, but no consensus was reached. Further discussions are expected.
At noon, BGB personnel along with local villagers were seen patrolling the border area about 300 yards from main pillar 276, while the three youths remained on the Indian side.
Maruf Hossain, a resident of West Ramkrishnapur, noted that locals intercepted the men at Kariya market shortly after they crossed over and promptly handed them to border guards.
Another local, Aiyub Hossain, added that the men’s wet clothing raised suspicion, leading them to admit they had been pushed across the border.
Eyewitness Azim Hossain confirmed seeing BGB personnel escorting the three individuals back near pillar 276 after 7:00 AM.
Kariya BGB BOP Commander Mahtab Uddin confirmed the pushback, stating that initial discussions with BSF yielded no resolution and that follow-up flag meetings are scheduled.
