Biman Flight Grounded in Rome Over Technical Fault

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Toronto to Dhaka has been grounded at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport after making an emergency landing due to a technical fault, leaving 256 passengers stranded for hours. A passenger said travellers remained inside the aircraft for nearly eight hours before being allowed to disembark at around 8:30 pm Bangladesh time. They were then taken to nearby hotels.

A Biman Bangladesh official said the aircraft underwent a technical inspection after landing in Rome. Engineers found a mechanical problem and decided to keep the aircraft grounded until repairs are completed. According to airline sources, Biman is sending engineers and required spare parts from Dhaka to Rome. The team will inspect the aircraft and carry out repairs before it is cleared to fly.

Biman is arranging food, accommodation and alternative travel options for affected passengers. However, the airline has not confirmed when the aircraft will resume its journey to Dhaka. Meanwhile, another Biman flight is scheduled to depart Dhaka for Toronto at 1:00 am, instead of its original departure time of 2:20 am. Passengers have been asked to arrive at the airport by 9:00 pm.
