China and India Can Move Forward Together on Development: Xi Calls for Joint Efforts with Modi

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China and India can learn from each other’s experiences and respective strengths and move forward together towards joint development and progress.

The Chinese president conveyed the message during a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in India’s capital New Delhi. The information was reported by China’s state-run news agency Xinhua.

According to the report, Xi emphasised regional stability and economic growth during the bilateral meeting. He noted that expanding areas of mutual cooperation between two of the world’s major emerging economic powers would not only benefit the two countries but also have a positive impact on the entire Global South and the global economy.

After years of border disputes and various bilateral political tensions, the sideline meeting at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi is being viewed as a highly significant step towards normalising and strengthening diplomatic relations between the two neighbouring countries.
