CJP to Mobilise Delhi on October 10, Calls on People from All Walks of Life to Join

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has urged people from all walks of life to join its planned Delhi protest next week. It demands a fair and neutral election and has asked everyone to keep the protest peaceful. The party said today that the mass movement will go ahead if Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Gyanesh Kumar does not resign.

The CJP has demanded Mr. Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation for a long time. It accuses the voter list and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of serious irregularities.

In a statement today, CJP founder and convener Mr. Abhijeet Dipke said citizens and activists from every part of the country will gather in New Delhi if Mr. Gyanesh Kumar does not resign. They will build a huge mass protest at Jantar Mantar. He said, “If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, cockroaches from all over India will march to Delhi next week and hold a protest meeting at Jantar Mantar.”

Mr. Dipke added, “If the Delhi Police try to stop us, the place where they stop us will become our Jantar Mantar. Our movement will be fully peaceful. We will fight on the path of nonviolence that Mahatma Gandhi showed us.”

The statement said the Delhi movement will follow a strict policy of nonviolence. It will follow the style of historic civil disobedience movements. The party wants to bring back public trust in democratic institutions.

The party leaders said no administrative hurdle will stop the movement. They pointed to the long protests they held in the past and the recent arrests of party workers. They said these events show their firm resolve.

Mr. Dipke said, “This is a fight for our existence to protect the democracy of our country. I call on every citizen who wants a free and fair election to join us next week.”

Yesterday, the CJP held a protest meeting at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Many police restrictions and bans did not stop thousands of people from gathering there. They raised their voices against election irregularities and demanded Mr. Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. The party first announced at that Mumbai rally that it would build a bigger movement in Delhi if the Chief Election Commissioner does not resign.
