Dhaka urges Delhi to Hand Over Sheikh Hasina

Bangladesh has requested New Delhi to extradite former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently staying in India, to face trial in cases related to crimes against humanity. At the same time, Bangladesh has also requested the extradition of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. The requests were made during a courtesy meeting between members of the visiting Indian High Commission delegation in Dhaka and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (10 August). Following the meeting with the Indian delegation, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman informed reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the matter. He said the issue was raised on behalf of the Bangladesh government during discussions with the Indian delegation.
