The online e-bail bond system has been introduced in 12 more districts, bringing the total number of districts covered by the system to 28.Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman inaugurated the system on Thursday. He said the traditional bail bond process involved 12 steps, while the digital system reduces the process to just two, allowing lawyers to submit bail bonds online from anywhere using smartphones. Acceptance is confirmed instantly through a one-time password (OTP). The minister said the system would reduce the suffering of bailed-out accused persons and their families by minimizing repeated visits to prisons and courts. Around 120,000 e-bail bonds have already been submitted in the 16 districts where the system was previously introduced. The newly covered districts include Tangail, Kishoreganj, Munshiganj, Cox’s Bazar, Chandpur, Rangamati, Sirajganj, Bagerhat, Patuakhali, Habiganj, Thakurgaon and Jamalpur.
