Fateha-e-Yazdaham Held at Historic Gausul Azam Mosque
A dua and mahfil was held at the historic Gausul Azam Mosque in the capital’s Mohakhali on Wednesday to mark Fateha-e-Yazdaham on 11 Rabi-us-Sani, commemorating the death anniversary of Abdul Qader Jilani (RA).
Held with due religious solemnity, the gathering drew more than 5,000 devotees and worshippers from different parts of the country. The mosque complex was filled to capacity.
The main speaker, Alhaj Maulana Idris Ansari, spoke about the life and works of Abdul Qader Jilani (RA), his Islamic way of life, propagation of Islam and karamat. He urged attendees to learn from the lives of the Prophets and messengers, including the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the saints, and apply those lessons to their own lives to promote peace and order in society.
He also stressed the importance of embracing the true teachings, heritage and beauty of Islam and discussed ways to protect Muslims from what he described as ongoing attempts worldwide to undermine their faith and beliefs. The mahfil also called for an end to divisions among Muslims and urged them to remain united.
The mahfil was organised jointly by Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarresin, a non-political professional organisation of madrasa teachers and employees, and Gausul Azam Mosque. Its secretary-general, Principal Shabbir Ahmed Momtazi, said the path shown by the Prophet, messengers and righteous saints is the true path of Islam.
He said Islam teaches moderation rather than excess or neglect. He stressed that Islamic teachings should not be limited to madrasa students and that every Muslim should have knowledge of Islamic rules and principles. He particularly emphasised the need for those responsible for policymaking in families, society and the state to have sound knowledge in this regard.
He added that those unable to acquire sufficient knowledge due to time constraints should at least seek guidance from genuine Islamic scholars and knowledgeable people. This, he said, would help ensure success in both this world and the hereafter, while wrong decisions could put one’s existence at risk.
The mahfil concluded with a special dua and munajat led by Gausul Azam Mosque Khatib Alhaj Mufti Maulana Mahbubur Rahman, followed by the orderly distribution of tabarruk among the worshippers.
