Father Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teenage Daughter, Mother Filmed Incident

A disturbing incident has been reported near Anjar in Gujarat, India, where a man and his wife have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting their 14-year-old daughter at their home. Police said the girl’s mother allegedly recorded the incident on her mobile phone while the assault was happening.

The Kutch East Police arrested the couple after the teenager went to Anjar police station on Friday night and reported the alleged abuse. Police seized the mobile phone as digital evidence and recovered several photographs and videos reportedly linked to the crime.

According to police, the father became angry after recently seeing his daughter talking to a male friend or acquaintance on the phone. He allegedly broke her phone, assaulted her and sexually assaulted her in front of his wife. Instead of helping her, the mother allegedly recorded the incident.

Anjar Police Inspector H A Jadeja said the girl had called the police control room two or three days earlier. However, police could not locate her because her father allegedly switched off the phone before officers arrived.

On Friday, the girl managed to obtain another phone and called the emergency number 112, saying that she was being sexually assaulted. Police immediately rescued her, took her to the police station, registered a case and arrested both accused that night.

Police said the family, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been living near Anjar as daily-wage workers for the past six years. The victim is the eldest of the couple’s four daughters. A case has been filed against the accused under the relevant rape provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for aggravated sexual assault of a minor.
