Gold Price Rises Again to Tk 247,743 per Bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices again, taking the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 247,743 per bhori (11.664 grams). The new price, up to Tk 1,633 per bhori, came into effect at 10am on Tuesday (August 25).

According to BAJUS, the increase follows a rise in the price of acid gold in the local market. The new prices, including VAT, will remain effective at jewellery shops across the country until further notice. Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold costs Tk 236,604 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk 231,186 and traditional gold Tk 165,920.

BAJUS said VAT is included in the selling price, so buyers will not be charged VAT separately. Labour charges will apply based on jewellery design. Existing rules for exchanging jewellery and buying old gold will remain unchanged. BAJUS last raised gold prices on August 22, when 22-carat gold increased to Tk 246,110 per bhori. The latest increase marks the 107th gold price adjustment by BAJUS this year. Prices have been raised 55 times and reduced 51 times, while VAT was adjusted once. In 2025, prices were revised 93 times.
