Iranian President Congratulates President Mirza Fakhrul

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed his hearty congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election and swearing-in as Bangladesh’s 23rd President. In his official statement, President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Tehran’s dedication to strengthening the two countries’ long-standing, cordial relations and increasing bilateral cooperation in regional and global contexts.
The Iranian leader highlighted the parliamentary vote of confidence, pointing out that Mirza Fakhrul’s broad experience in government, political vision, and important contributions to Bangladesh’s democratic path are reflected in the mandate. President Pezeshkian congratulated the recently elected head of state and expressed hope that, under his direction, Bangladesh will enter a new period of sustainable development, economic growth, and national advancement.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir defeated Liberal Democratic Party candidate Oli Ahmad by 255–88 votes in the National Parliament on Thursday to win the presidency. Along with a number of other regional leaders, including the presidents of India, Pakistan, Nepal, and the Maldives, he formally took the oath of office at Bangabhaban on Friday night.
