Israeli Occupiers Implicated in 89% of Palestinian Arson Incidents

Nearly 89% of arson incidents on Palestinian houses, structures, and cars in occupied West Bank areas since the start of 2023 have been carried out by Israeli occupiers, according to a report by Turkey’s state-owned Anadolu Agency. In a recent study, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission stated that between January 2023 and July 10, 2026, 900 arson attacks affected Palestinian-owned property. Of these, the Israeli military was responsible for 101 incidents, while 799 fires were directly connected to Israeli occupation.

According to the report’s data, there has been a consistent rise in these arson attacks against Palestinians. In 2023, there were 217 recorded arson incidents; however, in 2024 and 2025, there were 264 and 307, respectively. Additionally, up to July 10, 112 arson occurrences were reported in just the first seven months of 2026.

These devastating attacks caused the most damage to the Nablus, Ramallah, and Al-Bireh districts. These two regions accounted for almost 61.3% of all recorded incidents, compared with 281 fires in Nablus and 271 in Ramallah and Al-Bireh. At least 121 Palestinian villages were either totally or partially destroyed at that time, leaving 46 regions completely unlivable. Over 6,200 Palestinians, including more than 3,000 children, were hence forced to leave their homes.

The Palestinian panel blamed these violent attacks on the Israeli government’s ‘enabling environment’, claiming that it gives occupiers legal protection and promotes criminal activity. At the same time, illegal Israeli settlements are increasingly turning into major centers for arson, road blockades, and the denial of Palestinians’ rights of access to land and water sources.
