Kamrangirchar Lohar Bridge Reopens After Renovation in 25 Days
The Lohar Bridge in Kamrangirchar, Dhaka, has been formally reopened to pedestrians after a quick 25-day renovation that was funded and supervised by the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). On Friday, August 28, DSCC Region-3 Executive Engineer Mr. Ahsan Habib, Dhaka-7 Member of Parliament Mr. Hamidur Rahman, and DSCC Administrator Mr. Abdus Salam officially opened the renovated 145-meter-long by 4.2-meter-wide structure.
The bridge was used by an estimated 70,000 people every day and has been in poor condition for a long time, creating serious security issues and making travel difficult for locals. The DSCC is completely funding and carrying out the project to restore safe passage across the region, according to city authorities, who stated that the quick turnaround seeks to eliminate these everyday commuting concerns.
DSCC Administrator Mr. Salam emphasized the company’s dedication to ensuring secure and efficient urban transportation during the opening event. He confirmed that the bridge will subsequently only be accessible by pedestrians, and said that this landmark will be preserved for future generations in connection with an upcoming eight-lane expansion.
