Mediation Continues to Implement Iran-US Understanding Agreement: Iran

Iran’s Interior Ministry has said that international diplomatic efforts and mediation are continuing to resolve the outstanding issues related to a bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States. The ministry’s spokesperson, Ali Zeinivand, confirmed this at a press conference in Tehran. He also spoke about growing public concerns over rising prices of essential goods in Iran’s domestic market.

The office of the Interior Ministry spokesperson said indirect talks are being held through various countries to ensure that the United States maintains its commitments under the understanding reached through Islamabad and returns to the previous terms. The spokesperson said the proposal was approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and is a state decision endorsed by the country’s highest political leadership.

The press conference also highlighted the government’s concerns over the economic pressure and rising cost of living in Iran caused by global and geopolitical crises. Mr. Zeinivand acknowledged that “continuous increases in commodity prices in the market have become a major concern for ordinary people in the country.” However, he indicated that the administration is taking necessary monitoring measures to address the crisis and maintain normal supplies in the market.

According to analysts, resolving the ongoing diplomatic deadlock with Washington and reviving the agreement could help ease the international economic pressure on Iran and reduce domestic inflation.
