Muhibbullah Babunagari Calls for Unity to Safeguard Islam
An initiative has been launched to bring seven like-minded Qawmi-based Islamic political parties under a single platform to safeguard Islam, establish Deen, and pursue joint social and political endeavors. Prominent Islamic scholar and Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, announced this development while presiding over a high-level meeting at Al-Jamiatul Islamiah Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari, Chittagong.
The meeting, held on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, was attended by top leaders and representatives of all seven participating organizations. Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari stated, ‘The call for unity was issued to protect Islam. Each participating party has submitted its own formula for unity, and efforts are currently underway to synthesize these proposals through discussion and analysis into a unified blueprint’.
The seven participating parties in this coalition drive are Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, Islami Oikya Jote, and Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party. Formal discussions on this unity process originally began on July 16 at the same venue, where the parties were subsequently requested to submit their individual structural proposals for integration.
According to insider sources, although extensive deliberations took place regarding the draft proposals submitted by the seven parties during the meeting, a final consensus could not be reached due to differences on several specific points. Nevertheless, all participating political factions maintained a strongly positive stance toward forming a consolidated alliance to carry out future religious and political activities.
To resolve the remaining points of contention and finalize the draft framework, a liaison committee comprising three representatives from each of the seven parties, along with two senior Hefazat-e-Islam leaders, has been officially formed. The key central figures present at the meeting included Hefazat-e-Islam Secretary General Maulana Sajidur Rahman, Naib-e-Amir Mufti Jashimuddin, Naib-e-Amir Maulana Salahuddin Nanupuri, and Organizational Secretary Mufti Bashir Ullah.
Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Joint Secretary General Maulana Azizul Haque Islamabadi stated, ‘The proposals submitted by the seven parties were discussed in detail, and despite some differences, all parties remain positive about forming an alliance’. The newly formed liaison committee is scheduled to meet in Dhaka on October 22 to finalize the decision, after which Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari will formally announce the outcome.
