Muslims Must Remain Vigilant Against the Tendency to Reject Madhhabs: Pir of Charsina
Ameer-e-Hizbullah and Pir of Charsina Darbar Sharif, Alhaj Hazrat Maulana Shah Abu Nasr Nasaruddin Ahmad Hussain, has urged Muslims to be cautious about the tendency to reject madhhabs. He said denying madhhabs means ignoring established methods of acquiring deep and comprehensive religious knowledge and can lead to serious misunderstanding of Islam. According to him, Quranic and Sunnah-based rulings cannot be interpreted according to personal opinions or limited knowledge.
He stressed the importance of following the interpretations and research of qualified scholars, jurists and mujtahid imams. He said the issue of madhhabs and taqlid had been settled through the consensus of the Muslim community before the formal compilation of Hadith. Referring to the four Sunni imams—Imam Abu Hanifa (RA), Imam Malik (RA), Imam Shafi’i (RA) and Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (RA)—he said they provided the Muslim community with comprehensive methods for understanding religious rulings based on the Quran, Sunnah, the practices of the Companions and deep study of fiqh. He said, “Therefore, denying the school or belittling the Muslims who follow the school is in no way acceptable.”
He also warned against interpreting Quran and Hadith without adequate knowledge of fiqh, Arabic, different categories of Hadith, nasikh-mansukh, am-khas and mutlaq-muqayyad. He said relying on social media videos or translations to form religious judgments could harm the understanding of Islam. Charchina Pir Saheb made the remarks as chief guest at the closing session of a three-day Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) programme at the Ghausul Azam Complex at Mohakhali TB Gate in Dhaka on Friday night.
Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarresin President and Dainik Inqilab Editor Alhajj AMM Bahauddin chaired the session. Several senior religious leaders also addressed the gathering. The programme ended with a prayer led by Charsina Pir Saheb for the peace and prosperity of the country, the Muslim Ummah and all people.
