PM to Distribute Farmer Cards to 110,165 people

The government has covered 100,047 farmers with the incentive program. They come from 77 upazilas in 56 districts and 77 agricultural blocks. Bank accounts have been opened for 110,165 farmers. In Feni district, all preparations are complete to give Farmer Cards to 7,643 farmers in the first batch and 102,522 in the second batch, in 6 upazilas. Each farmer will get 2,500 taka as an agricultural incentive.

Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman will directly give Farmer Cards to 7,153 farmers in 6 upazilas of Feni. He will also give them to 92,894 farmers in the remaining 71 upazilas. On Thursday, he will open the Farmer Card distribution in Fulgazi upazila of Feni district. He will also give allowances to 280 imams and muezzins in Feni. At the same time, he will open the program virtually in 77 upazilas of 56 districts.

The Prime Minister will join several programs in Parshuram and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni during the day. First, he will open the rehabilitation work of the Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project in Parshuram. Then in Fulgazi, he will join a tree planting event. He will also open the supply of rooftop solar power to the national grid there. Later, he will attend a program to give Family Cards, Farmer Cards and honorariums to workers at religious institutions.

Mr. Md. Selim Khan, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, spoke to Inqilab on Tuesday. He said Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman will open the Farmer Card distribution in Fulgazi on Thursday. He said the Prime Minister will hand the incentive money straight to the farmers. He said bank accounts have been opened for 110,165 farmers. He also said all preparations are complete for the first and second batches of farmers in Feni.

The Prime Minister’s Protocol Officer 1, Mr. Md. Ujjal Hossain, signed a letter on Monday that shared these details. According to the schedule, the Prime Minister will leave his residence by road for Parshuram in Feni at 8:30 AM on Thursday. He will reach the Muhuri Bridge area in Ghatghar, Parshuram, at 12:30 PM. There he will join the opening of the project titled “Rehabilitation of Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project (Phase 1).” He will also exchange greetings with the people there.

At 1:15 PM, the Prime Minister will leave Parshuram for Begum Khaleda Zia Mohila College in Fulgazi. He will reach the college at 1:30 PM and join the tree planting event. At 2 PM, he will go to the Fulgazi Zila Parishad Dak Bungalow. There he will open the supply of power from the rooftop solar unit to the national grid. Then he will rest there.

At 3 PM, the Prime Minister will join a program at the Fulgazi Government Pilot High School field. He will attend the event to give Family Cards and Farmer Cards. He will also give honorariums to imams, muezzins, khadems and others who work at places of worship. At 5 PM, he will leave Feni by road for Dhaka. He is due to reach Dhaka at 9 PM.

Preparations for the visit are in the final stage. Workers are preparing the public meeting site on the bank of the Muhuri River in Ghatghar, Parshuram. A temporary helipad has been built at the Parshuram Pilot High School field. The stage and the place for the opening plaque are almost ready. The Department of Public Health Engineering is arranging clean drinking water for the crowd. It is also setting up water tanks, portable toilets and other sanitation facilities.

Workers are also cleaning the venue and nearby areas. The Roads and Highways Department is repairing important parts of the Feni-Parshuram main road to keep travel safe. It is also doing needed repair work around the public meeting site on the Parshuram-Subar Bazar road. Workers are also beautifying the Fulgazi Government Pilot High School field and other key places. Earlier, the Prime Minister was due to visit Feni on 17 September. The government postponed it and set a new date of 1 October.

Mr. Mohammad Mahbubul Karim, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Feni, spoke to Inqilab. He said the Prime Minister will give Family Cards, Farmer Cards and honorariums to workers at religious places in 6 upazilas. He said the Prime Minister will give money to the imams, muezzins and khadems of 272 mosques.
