Quader-Nasir leaked call on Chittagong violence

An alarming leaked phone conversation between former Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and former Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has been presented by the prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) as crucial evidence in the July mass uprising crimes against humanity case. The audio recording, which was presented by Prosecutor Gazi M.H. Tamin to a three-person court panel headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, reveals the direct coordination of armed attacks against protesters by the ruling hierarchy.

While Nasir told Quader that Chittagong city and its university campus were under their “100 percent control,” he acknowledged that there had been violent disputes and gunfire in the Muradpur region, according to the leaked dialogue. The intensity of the oppression during the anti-discrimination movement was highlighted by Nasir’s particular confirmation to Quader of three deaths brought on by the violence.
