Rahul Gandhi Tells Protesters Not to Fear Police or Baton Charges Ahead of November 1 Delhi March

India’s Congress party has called for a “Chalo Delhi Ramlila March” at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1 to protest alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls. Party leader Rahul Gandhi has described the programme as a movement to protect democracy, prevent vote theft and safeguard the Constitution.
In a post on social media platform X, Mr. Rahul said, “There is no need to fear police obstruction or baton charges. The BJP will not dare to resort to such tactics.”
Rahul Gandhi said the march was not being organised for any political party but to protect the soul of India.
“I urge everyone who is angry with Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar, and who wants to save democracy and protect the Constitution, to come forward,” he said.
Mr. Rahul said the protest was in the national interest. He urged everyone to join the march and stand together in the movement to protect the Constitution and the Indian state.
“I appeal to all student organisations: regardless of your political ideology, if you believe India is under attack and that your rights, freedom of expression or ideas are under threat, join us,” he said.
Mr. Rahul described the march as an important event organised to protect the soul of the country.
He expressed hope that he would meet everyone there.
