Reconstitution of Three Hill District Councils in Chittagong Hill Tracts

The three Hill District Councils in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT)- Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban- have had their temporary councils reorganised by the government. On Thursday, August 20, the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs released an announcement about this.

The Rangamati Hill District Council will be chaired by Dipan Talukder, the Khagrachhari Hill District Council will be chaired by Mrasa Thowai Marma, and the Bandarban Hill District Council will be chaired by Ma Mya Ching under the reconstituted temporary councils. Each of the three district councils now has fourteen appointed members in addition to the chairmen. Until further notice, these temporary councils will carry out their respective responsibilities in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.
