Russia Open to Black Sea Security Talks with Any Country

The Kremlin has announced that Russia remains open to engaging in discussions and dialogue with any country regarding security issues in the Black Sea region. However, it clarified that no bilateral agreements or pacts are currently under negotiation with any nation. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian President’s office (the Kremlin), confirmed this position.
In response to a journalist’s query on whether Russia is pursuing bilateral agreements with countries such as India, Egypt, and Turkey, Peskov stated, ‘It depends on bilateral arrangements. We keep the doors open for discussion with any country. However, no specific formal or effective negotiations are currently underway.’
When asked whether Russia has received any specific proposals from other nations concerning Black Sea security, Mr. Peskov noted that the issue was recently raised during the Valdai Club meeting, where Russian President Vladimir Putin provided a clear response. Geopolitical analysts view Russia’s stance as significant at a time when international discussions continue over securing this strategically and economically vital maritime route.
