Schengen visa applications submitted in Dhaka, decisions to be made in Sweden

There will be a change in the process for deciding Schengen visa applications submitted by Bangladeshi applicants for Sweden. From October 15, the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka will no longer make decisions on Schengen visa applications. Decisions on applications submitted from Bangladesh will instead be made by the Swedish Migration Agency in Sweden.
The Swedish Embassy in Dhaka announced the change in a notice on Thursday. It said that from October 15, the embassy would no longer be responsible for making decisions on Schengen visa applications. Final decisions will be made by the Swedish Migration Agency in Sweden.
However, the embassy said the change would not affect the visa application process for Bangladeshi applicants. Applicants will continue to book appointments through VFS Global and submit their applications by following the existing rules and procedures.
The embassy also advised applicants to follow its published guidelines for detailed information on required documents, the application process and other matters related to Schengen visas.
Under the new system, VFS Global’s role in receiving applications and completing the necessary procedures in Dhaka will remain unchanged. The responsibility for making decisions on applications will, however, be transferred to the Swedish Migration Agency.
The new system will take effect on October 15.
