Storm Risk Looms Over Six Regions Tonight

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that storms with wind speeds of up to 60 km/h may hit six regions overnight. Rain or thunderstorms are also likely, and river ports in the affected areas have been advised to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1. The warning, issued on Friday, will remain valid until 1:00 am on August 7. According to the BMD, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45–60 km/h.
The weather office said the affected areas could also receive rain or thunderstorms. As a precaution, river ports in the six districts have been asked to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 1 hoisted. In a separate outlook, the BMD said all divisions of the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds throughout the coming week. Some areas may receive moderately heavy rainfall, with rain activity expected to increase toward the end of the week.
