Summit Supplying Gas Beyond Its Capacity

After an LNG-carrying cargo arrived at Maheshkhali’s floating terminal, gas supply from Summit Power’s terminal was increased by 140 million cubic feet. As of Saturday evening, the latest available information showed a record 570 million cubic feet of gas being supplied from the terminal, exceeding its capacity.
The terminal’s capacity is 550 million cubic feet. Concerned officials said that when the next LNG cargo arrives on Monday, production at the terminal operated by US-owned Excelerate Energy will also be increased. At that point, the gas crisis will be fully resolved, they said.
On Saturday, the two terminals were supplying 710 million cubic feet of gas. As LNG stocks at the Excelerate terminal were declining, its gas supply had been reduced to 140 million cubic feet. The combined supply capacity of the two terminals is 1,100 million cubic feet.
As gas supply from the Maheshkhali terminal increased slightly, the supply to the national grid also rose. On Saturday night, the supply stood at 2,327.9 million cubic feet.

An official of the Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL), which is responsible for LNG imports on behalf of Petrobangla, said the next cargo was scheduled to arrive today, Sunday, but its schedule has been changed slightly and it will now arrive on Monday. The cargo will be supplied to the Excelerate Energy terminal.
This will be the fourth LNG cargo imported this month. According to the previously announced schedule, a Gunvor cargo is scheduled to arrive on September 16, an Aramco cargo on September 18, a Total cargo on September 23, and another Gunvor cargo on September 28.
A total of 10 LNG cargoes have been scheduled for import this month.
