Three Ministers to Act in PM’s Absence

The government has assigned parliamentary responsibilities to ministers for the 13th National Parliament, including three ministers who will act in the absence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Monday, signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani. It said the assignments will remain effective until further orders.
According to the notification, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Women and Children’s Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain, and Industries, Textiles and Jute and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir will perform the Prime Minister’s parliamentary duties in his absence. Other assignments include Dr Abdul Moin Khan for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Afroza Khanam for Food, Andalib Rahman for Information and Broadcasting, M Rashiduzzaman Millat for Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Saching Pru for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. The notification said state ministers will act as alternates when required. The order takes effect immediately, while other provisions of earlier notifications remain unchanged.
