US student visa may be revoked for skipping classes

The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned foreign students studying in the United States to comply with the conditions of their student visas.
A student visa may be revoked if a student stops studying, regularly misses classes or leaves a study programme without informing the educational institution. Such violations could also affect their eligibility for future US visas.
In a message posted on social media on Saturday, the embassy urged students to maintain their lawful student status and follow all visa requirements.
Under US rules, students on student visas must remain enrolled full-time at an approved institution. If they need to reduce their course load or make changes to their studies under special circumstances, they must first consult an authorised official at their institution.
A student may lose their status if they withdraw from their studies, fall below the required full-time course load without permission or work without authorisation. Such changes may be recorded by the institution in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
The embassy also noted that having a valid visa does not by itself guarantee lawful stay in the US. Students must comply with visa conditions and their approved programme of study to maintain legal status.
The embassy advised Bangladeshi students in the US to attend classes regularly, maintain their required course load and consult their designated school officials before making any changes to their studies.
