Over 2,750 Strikes Target Houthis, More Than 1,400 Casualties Claimed

Yemen’s internationally recognised government has claimed that more than 2,750 strikes were carried out against Houthi forces in the past 24 hours, leaving more than 1,400 fighters killed or wounded.
The strikes were part of an ongoing military campaign to retake territory controlled by the Iran-backed Houthis.
Yemen military spokesperson Brigadier General Majed Abdullah Al-Nadhib announced the figures on Friday (October 9), according to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency. The strikes targeted Houthi positions and military installations under an operation called “Dawn of Yemen”.
Al-Nadhib said the targets included defensive positions, military posts, surveillance and intelligence outposts, artillery positions, weapons and ammunition depots, supply centres and military convoys. Key military installations deep inside Houthi-controlled territory were also targeted, he claimed.
He further claimed that more than 250 military vehicles and pieces of equipment had been destroyed or damaged. Ground forces had broken through Houthi defensive lines, recaptured key positions and held the areas they had secured, he said. The operation was continuing according to plan.
Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, announced the launch of Operation Dawn of Yemen on Monday. Its stated objectives are to retake Houthi-controlled territory, recapture the capital Sanaa and restore the authority of state institutions.
The government’s claims about the number of strikes, casualties and military gains could not be independently verified. No response from the Houthis was included in the report.
