Israel uses Islamophobia to win Western support

Israel has adopted extreme Islamophobia as a new strategy to protect its image and maintain support among Western political circles and the public, according to an analysis published by Qatar-based international news outlet Al Jazeera. Mr. Josh Paul, a former senior US State Department official who resigned from his post, wrote in an article that Israel’s image has suffered severe damage worldwide because of its indiscriminate offensive and human rights violations in Gaza. He said Israel has now adopted a policy of fuelling Islamophobia among right-wing and conservative politicians to overcome the crisis and retain Western support.

The report said the Israeli government, led by Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, is developing ties with far-right political parties in Europe and the United States. Recently, leaders of various right-wing European parties were invited to a conference in Jerusalem, where the main topic of discussion was “a joint fight against the aggression of radical Islam.” According to diplomatic analysts, Israel’s Foreign Ministry and various public relations firms are conducting an organised campaign in Western countries, including the United States and Canada. The main objective of the campaign is to portray Muslim immigrants and Islamic values as a “threat” to Western civilisation and promote the idea that Israel is the only model for the Western world in the fight against extremism.

However, analysts have warned that it remains doubtful whether this desperate attempt to defend Israel’s position by spreading hatred and fear will ultimately succeed. Ordinary people and progressive sections of Western society are increasingly recognising the real objectives behind such campaigns.
