July martyrs’ families enough to take Hasina to gallows: Sarjis

National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer Mr. Sarjis Alam has said that if former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to return to Bangladesh, the families of those killed and injured in the July movement would be enough on their own to take her from the airport straight to the gallows.

He made these remarks while speaking with journalists on Monday (7 August) afternoon, at the start of an organizational coordination meeting and political workshop organized by the Jhalokathi District NCP at a Chinese restaurant in Jhalokathi town.

Mr. Sarjis Alam said the families of those who lost loved ones or were injured in the July movement are still carrying that wound. He said the families of those killed and injured in the movement would be enough to take Sheikh Hasina from the airport to the gallows. Speaking in harsh terms about Sheikh Hasina, he said, “Neither Sheikh Hasina’s death nor her burial will take place on the soil of this Bangladesh.”

The NCP Chief Organizer also spoke about the government’s various card schemes. He said the government had initially announced plans to issue various types of cards, including the Family Card, claiming that Tk 242 crore was allocated for the card project alone to produce these cards.

Mr. Sarjis Alam said that while various projects have been undertaken in the name of public welfare, questions remain in many cases about their implementation. He said that, in the case of the Family Card project as well, the government has ultimately realized it is not feasible to implement, which is why there is now little discussion of the project from the government’s side. He further said that no project involving public funds should be undertaken if there is uncertainty about its implementation from the outset, stressing the need to ensure proper use of public money alongside adopting realistic planning.

Later, at the organizational coordination meeting and political workshop organized by Jhalokathi District NCP, discussions covered the party’s organizational activities, future plans, and various matters related to strengthening the party further at the local level. The meeting was attended by NCP central leader Mr. Sarwar Tushar, NCP women’s leader and reserved-seat MP Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu, along with other central and local-level leaders.
