Former Air Force Officer’s Body Handed Over to Family, Janaza Held

The body of KM Tahsif Sauri, 27, a former Bangladesh Air Force officer, was recovered by river police from the Rajabari river ghat area under Uttarkhan Police Station in the capital on the afternoon of October 28. His death has sparked widespread concern in the area.

According to information provided by Tahsif’s father and younger uncle, Tahsinul Karim, Tahsif served as a flight lieutenant in the Bangladesh Air Force. He was recently discharged from service following the fall of the government. He was unmarried.

Family sources said Tahsif lived in Sector 18 of Uttara and went missing on October 27. His uncle said Tahsif had last sent a voice message at 1:35pm that day, saying he would return home. However, after evening, a friend named Deep came to the house and called him out. Tahsif had not been heard from since, and his family could not reach him by phone.

After searching various places and contacting the police station, the family learned on the afternoon of October 28 that river police had recovered his body.

Tahsif’s father claimed that his son had been murdered. “This was a murder. His body was found in the river, and he would not normally go to that area,” he said.

He added that Tahsif had been resting at home after a motorcycle accident and was recovering well. Describing his son as honest, polite, humble and well-liked by everyone, he demanded a proper investigation and justice.

Meanwhile, Tahsif’s uncle said the family was not suspecting anyone in particular until the autopsy report was available.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Uttarkhan River Police Station Md Firoz and other police personnel recovered the body from the river. No visible injury marks were found on the body initially, according to reports.

After recovering the body, river police searched it and found an iPhone and a wallet in his pocket. Later, OC Md Firoz activated the SIM card in the mobile phone and contacted the family to inform them of Tahsif’s death.

Following the autopsy, police handed over the body to the family after 4pm yesterday. His janaza was held after Asr prayers.

Concerned parties hope the mystery surrounding his death will be resolved through the autopsy report and a proper investigation.
