Free Eye Care for Thousands in Bhasantek and Korail Slums
During a day-long medical camp on Saturday, August 22, the Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) offered free eye care services to about 1,000 impoverished inhabitants of Dhaka’s Vasantek, Korail, and Sattala slum neighbourhoods. Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Vise President of ZRF, launched the program, which provided free comprehensive eye exams, consultations, prescription drugs, and spectacles. Additionally, doctors identified cataract patients among men, women, and children and registered them for free surgical operations in later stages.
The health program’s goal was to assist low-income people who frequently suffer from significant eye problems or untreated cataracts because of their limited financial resources. The organisers reaffirmed intentions to carry out such public welfare initiatives, highlighting ZRF’s dedication to ensuring that financial hardship does not impede access to essential treatment. Senior foundation executives, including Executive Director Professor Dr. Forhad Halim Donor, were present at the opening together with volunteers and attending physicians. Local recipients conveyed their sincere appreciation for the vital services.
