Iran says Hormuz stays closed until US accepts its terms
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has made clear that reopening the Strait of Hormuz does not depend on its ongoing talks with Oman. The waterway will be reopened only if the United States fully accepts Iran’s conditions and stops interfering in regional affairs.
According to Iran’s state-run Tasnim news agency, IRGC spokesman Sardar Mohebi said reopening the strait would follow Iran’s own specific procedures and conditions and had no direct connection with Oman’s mediation efforts. Highlighting the strait’s strategic importance, Mohebi said it is not merely an economic waterway but also a key element of Iran’s geographical and strategic power.
He further stressed that Washington must accept all of Iran’s conditions and stop interfering in regional negotiations. “The Strait of Hormuz will definitely be reopened the day the United States accepts Iran’s conditions,” he said.
