Jamaat Nominates Selim for Dhaka North, Sadiq Kayem for South

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mr. Mia Golam Parwar has announced Mohammad Salim Uddin, Ameer of Jamaat’s Dhaka North Metropolitan unit, and former Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) VP Mr. Sadiq Kayem as the party’s mayoral candidates for the Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporation elections, respectively. He made this announcement on Monday afternoon while attending a Siratunnabi (PBUH) conference organized by the National Doctors Forum, Dhaka South Metropolitan unit, at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium.
‘While elections are contested through alliances in national polls, all parties will contest local elections independently. Therefore, candidates have been finalized for the two Dhaka city corporation elections keeping this in mind. Mohammad Salim Uddin will contest from the North, and DUCSU VP Mr. Sadiq Kayem will contest from the South,’ he stated. Regarding the vandalism of Jinnah’s portrait at the DUCSU archive, Mr. Parwar remarked that such behavior could be expected from those engaged in conventional politics who are oblivious to the history of this region.
