Japan-Bangladesh Partnership to Launch Japanese Language and Skill Development Center

Japan-based ONODERA User Run Co. Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Center for Zakat Management (CZM), the Institute of Islamic Social Finance (IISF), and Rahimafrooz to establish a Japanese Language and Skill Development Center in Bangladesh. The MoU was signed in Dhaka on Thursday by Jun Kato, President and CEO of ONODERA User Run; Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, CEO of CZM; Arastoo Khan, Vice Chairman of IISF; and Niaz Rahim, Group Managing Director of Rahimafrooz, in the presence of Minister Aya Yoshida from the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka.

The primary objective of this joint initiative is to train Bangladeshi youth, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, in the Japanese language, practical workplace skills, and Japanese corporate culture. Under the agreement, ONODERA User Run will deliver language instruction and job-readiness preparation, while CZM identifies eligible candidates and facilitates scholarships. Meanwhile, IISF will supply the academic infrastructure and facility support, and Rahimafrooz will provide strategic guidance focused on social responsibility and employment generation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Jun Kato highlighted the perseverance and immense potential of Bangladeshi youth, affirming that the program will equip them with the language proficiency and practical capabilities needed to build meaningful careers. Rahimafrooz Group Managing Director Niaz Rahim added that leveraging the combined strengths of all four partner organizations will bridge local talent with international job markets through essential linguistic skills and responsible work practices.

Emphasizing the long-term impact on disadvantaged communities, CZM CEO Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah noted that quality training and credible employment avenues will help underprivileged youth overcome career barriers, enhance their capacities, and achieve financial independence and personal dignity. Expressing strong official support, Japanese Embassy Minister Aya Yoshida affirmed Japan’s interest in recruiting skilled workers from Bangladesh, while stressing that Japanese language fluency and cultural understanding remain critical prerequisites for successful careers in Japan.

By integrating international corporate expertise, social development programs, academic infrastructure, and strategic private-sector support, the proposed center aims to bridge the gap between skill development and sustainable global employment. Ultimately, this collaborative framework creates viable international career pathways for Bangladeshi youth, empowering them to secure dignified livelihoods both locally and in Japan while contributing directly to national human resource development.
