Trump Claims Hormuz as ‘US Territory’ on New Map, Iran Hits Back
US President Donald Trump has posted a map claiming the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz as “new US territory.” Iran has strongly condemned the move, saying Trump’s “daydreams and delusions” will soon be shattered.
Trump posted a map of the Strait of Hormuz on his social media platform, Truth Social. The map shows the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and parts of Iran, with the caption “New US Territory.”
The post is being seen as a reiteration of Trump’s threat last week to declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory if Iran “surrendered.”
Iran Issues Strong Warning
Responding to Trump’s provocative post, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, issued a stern warning.
In a social media post, Gharibabadi wrote:
“Very soon, Trump’s daydreams and delusions about the Strait of Hormuz will be dispelled, or we ourselves will correct the misconceptions of this delusional man.”
The strategic waterway, a major route for energy and commercial shipments in the Middle East, has become a fresh source of international tensions following Trump’s claim.
