US Embassy in Dhaka Issues Warning on Visa Scams

The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned foreign nationals that using public assistance to cover medical expenses while in the United States could lead to future entry bans. The embassy issued the warning in a Facebook post at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 7.
Regarding visas, the post said that foreign visitors using public assistance for medical costs violates visa terms. Violating visa conditions or relying on US public benefits may render an individual ineligible for future travel to the United States.
Earlier, in a message issued on October 31, the embassy cautioned foreign nationals residing in the United States to leave the country within their authorized duration of stay.
The embassy said visitors must leave the United States before their authorized period of stay expires, as specified by the Admit Until Date on their visa. It advised individuals to verify this date via the official website, i94.cbp.dhs.gov.
Additionally, in a message on October 28, the embassy urged visitors to use their visas properly. It clarified that while B1/B2 visitor visas allow holders to attend business meetings and negotiate contracts, employment or job opportunities in the country require a separate visa category.
