Pakistan High Commissioner Calls on Hon’ble President of Bangladesh
High Commissioner of Pakistan, Mr. Imran Haider, paid a courtesy call on the President of Bangladesh, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to discuss the positive momentum in bilateral relations and collaborations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The President welcomed the High Commissioner and expressed gratitude for a felicitation message sent by the President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, following his assumption of office. Responding to an invitation extended by the President to visit Pakistan, the High Commissioner stated that he would like to undertake the visit at the earliest mutual convenience.
Recalling their shared history, common faith, cultural and familial affinities, the President emphasized that these associations provide a robust foundation for enhancing beneficial cooperation. He expressed strong satisfaction over the upward trajectory in various avenues, highlighting sectors such as health, science, technology, cultural exchanges, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, and agriculture. Both leaders agreed that these diverse fields offer substantial opportunities for deepening mutual trust and expanding strategic partnerships between the two nations moving forward.
The High Commissioner briefed the President on several ongoing initiatives, noting that medical tourism from Bangladesh to Pakistan is rising alongside professional training programs. He highlighted that Pakistani health experts are actively training Bangladeshi counterparts in organ transplantation to build domestic capacity, while the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor has successfully enrolled around 200 Bangladeshi students in top-ranking universities. Additionally, specialized training courses are currently being organized for Bangladeshi civil servants to foster administrative collaboration and institutional knowledge sharing.
Addressing infrastructure and economic ties, the High Commissioner emphasized the growing demand for increased flight frequencies and new routes to improve direct air connectivity. The President observed that enhanced transportation links remain crucial for bolstering business, cultural ties, and people-to-people contacts. Reaffirming the Pakistani leadership’s strong commitment to expanding cooperation across all areas of mutual interest, both sides ultimately agreed to build upon the existing positive momentum and further strengthen bilateral ties through closer and sustained diplomatic engagements.
