Teachers Employees Demand MPO Inclusion at Shaheed Minar

Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions began a sit-in and human chain at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Monday, demanding inclusion in the MPO scheme. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) permitted the programme from 9am to 5pm on August 24. The Bangladesh Non-MPO (Unpaid) Teachers-Employees Council organised the programme after seeking police approval on August 23.
The DMP allowed the programme with 21 conditions. According to a letter signed by Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Operations) Md Mahbub Hossain Kamal, the programme must remain peaceful and be held only at the approved location and within the scheduled time. Participants have been barred from making provocative statements, hurting religious sentiments or engaging in activities that could disrupt public safety and law and order. Drug use is also prohibited. The organisers must ensure that the programme does not disrupt public movement and arrange vehicle parking. Police instructions must be followed, while the organisers will be responsible for any disorder or unwanted incident.
